I admit I never found Iron Man all that compelling first time around, but there's no doubt about it: Downey was somehow born to play Iron Man/Stark, and his performance is easy, confident, assured, maybe his best since Chaplin. There are some funny, funky scenes and some great CGI exploding hardware it never looks a penny less than a million dollars, nor Johansson a Celsius-degree less than smokin' hot. Gwyneth Paltrow is back as long-suffering Pepper Potts, and Scarlett Johansson enters our story as the absurdly sexy martial-arts princess Natalie. But a glowering Russian wannabe iron man, played by Mickey Rourke, is set to take him on, assisted by Stark's envious business rival Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell). "I have successfully privatised world peace!" he cheerfully hollers. Now he's a global plutocrat mega-celebrity and adorable egomaniac, whose hi-tech weaponry has cowed America's enemies into submission. He is trillionaire inventor Tony Stark, who at the end of the last picture came out of the closet as the man in the metal rocket suit. T witchy, talky, muscly Robert Downey Jr strengthens his grip on the role that made him a player in this spectacularly efficient and efficiently spectacular sequel to Iron Man. Iron Man 2 (2010) Theatrical Film Live Action.
